Fundodai was founded in the 2nd year of the Meiji era. From our founding to the present, we have contributed to the local food culture through the manufacture and sale of our seasonings. Meaning of Fundodai mark

Origin of the name

Founded in 1897 and reorganized into a joint-stock company in 1933. The name of the company was "Okubo Soy Sauce" taken from the family name founder, and the brand was "Fundodai" represented by the character for "large" written inside of a shape of a "weight" used on balance scales. The shae of the weight if of the weight that the founder's family used when they ran a money exchanging business as a side business while running their sake brewing business in Demachi, Kumamoto City from the Kanei Era.  This Fundodai mark represents "accuracy, fairness and balance".
